As I stepped into Sorrento, I was immediately struck by its cozy ambiance. The intimate size of the restaurant contributes to a warm, inviting atmosphere, perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings with friends. The decor, though unique, adds a playful touch without overpowering the essence of a rustic Italian dining experience.
One of the highlights of dining at Sorrento is undeniably their remarkable pizza. It's a favorite among patrons, celebrated for its savory toppings and perfectly baked crust that strikes the ideal balance between crispy and chewy. Guests like Tiffany Belcher rave about the delicious pizzas paired with warm, buttered bread, creating a hearty start to any meal.
For pasta lovers, Sorrento’s menu features a delightful array of choices. The reviews speak highly of their lasagna — packed full of rich meat and enveloped in a flavorful pink sauce that consistently leaves diners wanting more. I was particularly captivated by the Spaghetti Bolognese, where the rich flavors blended seamlessly with the pasta, delivering a comforting yet elevated dish. It's clear that the chefs at Sorrento pour passion into every plate, focusing on quality and authenticity.
However, the experience doesn't stop at pasta and pizza. The alfredo and carbonara have received acclaim for their impeccable execution. Many have noted that the pasta is always al dente, a crucial component of any Italian dish, while the sauces are crafted with care to enhance, rather than mask, the natural flavors of the ingredients.

In conclusion, Sorrento Pizza & Restaurant stands out not just for its delectable offerings but also for its commitment to providing an authentic taste of Italy right here in San Antonio. “ The staff were friendly, and the Spaghetti Bolognese arrived quickly after ordering. The rich flavors of meat and tomato blended perfectly with the pasta, making it delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also excellent. ”
“ Food was great lots of flavor. Service was pretty good even though it was really busy. Was able to get a table pretty quick no wait. Second tome we got cheese sticks, lasagna, and a medium pizza. ”
“ A legit Italian experience has been hard to come by in the city until we stumbled across Sorrento. The interior is a bit on the smaller side with a nice vibe and cozy setting. We chose to skip the appetizers and went straight for the entrees. The alfredo, lasagna Della casa, carbonara and the alio e olio were our picks. The alfredo was perfectly al dente, with not an overabundance of sauce. There was basil inside the dish, which was unexpected and some would say unauthentic but it actually complimented the dish. The lasagna was well presented and quite tasty, I'm not a huge fan of the dish normally, but I welcome it here. The tomato sauce was the star. Next, was the alio e olio. It was great, once again, perfectly al dente pasta with olive oil, pepper and roasted garlic slices. Lastly, we tried the carbonara. This restaurant uses bacon inside the dish, when it traditionally uses pancetta/guanciale. There is also only parmesan cheese used instead of pecorino cheese. This is another dish that can be very controversial to some, but it is done well here. It was creamy and had a good flavor and the bacon wasn't overbearing. Yes, I would of preferred a different protein other than the bacon, but this is likely the best substitute for the restaurant. Overall, a great experience and the portion sizes are perfect for the price. We didn't even have room for dessert! It's always admirable when locals have some skin in the restaurant game and do it well. If you are a fan of pasta and Italian cuisine, I highly recommend you give them a go. 4.7/5 ”
“ Our family had a very nice evening out to this restaurant. Our waiter and host were very nice. Everyone loved their food! The pizza was great and the lasagna was amazing! They start you with bread (no oils) and butter. There is some outdoor seating and the indoor dining has great ambiance (although I thought the poles looked a little more candy cane-like). We had an excellent dining experience and plan to return to try more items on the menu. Great spot. ”
“ Great spot for lunch! Their lasagna is packed full with meat and the pink sauce is phenomenal. Service did not disappoint, staff was extremely attentive and meals were served fast without sacrificing quality. ”
“ Sooooo good. I loved the pizza the meatballs, and the Greek salad. The lemon cello waa the bomb. Great service as well. The gentleman was amazing. Kept our drinks full and very helpful. I will be back. Thanks u. ”
“ Walked in and loved how intimate the restaurant felt. It was a girlfriends dinner and this was a great spot. We started with the fried calamari. I paired the Kendall Jackson Chardonnay with the Melanzane Parmigiana. That layered egg plant was delicious. My friends had the Lasagna and the Gamberi Alla Sorrento. We loved everything. ”
“ Our friends shared with us that Sorrento’s Pizza & Restaurant has a delicious Spaghetti Carbonara. So my wife & I went & dined in. I had the Spaghetti Carbonara, wedding soup & my wife ordered the Stromboli. The food was very delicious. They give you nice portion sizes & it’s reasonable . The service was good too. We love it. ”
